Sometimes Inspiration is S-L-O-W in Coming!

Last August I went to Beadfest in Philly. I bought this amazing hollow bead from Kerry Bogert. I've been looking at it since then. Waiting.... waiting.... sighing and waiting. I wanted to make something special. It's such a cool bead, but I wanted it to hang vertically, which presented the problem of how to suspend the little bead inside! Well, a few days ago I got this little bit of an idea... and this is what I ended up with.

 

 I found some tiny clear, silver core beads that I was able to fit into the big bead on a bit of 20g silver wire. So the little bead inside is 'suspended' the way its supposed to be!

 

I love the look of it! Now I wish I had bought several more!!

 

 

Soup Ingredients!

    Done and done! As soon as I have my partners name and address I'm ready to shoot this package in the mail! Whoop! I love getting things accomplished! As soon as they have the package - I'll show you what's inside!.... stay tuned!

Pondering...

    So the pairings for the Bead Soup should be posted this weekend - I've begun pondering what to send to my partner. I think I have it pretty well worked out. Can't tell you what I'm sending but there will be some great lamp work and a really cool glass toggle that I can't wait to see in use!

Farewell Holidays!

     I love this bracelet - I made it for the holiday season - and now that its just about the end of January the holidays are over. Does that mean that I can't wear it again until next year??? Sadness!

Bead Soup 2013

     It's that time again. Lori Anderson is once again sponsoring the seventh annual Bead Soup Blog Party. I've participated in this hop before and it's an interesting event. It's been one of those things that seems to have gotten all out of control over the years. This years event has over 500 participants who will send a partner a selection of beads and a clasp from their personal stash and then make something out of what they receive. On three different dates everyone posts photos and the story of what they made on their blog and we all blog hop to each others sites to see them all.
     It started out as a way to generate interest in our blogs and maybe get some new followers. I'm not sure if that's still the point because now there is a Pinterest page for the soup and Lori's group where everyone also posted their pictures. It's still a good way to give your creativity a kick in the pants. So, if you have a little free time ~ the first reveal is March 30. I'll be posting here about my personal journey on the hop - photos of what I'm sending my partner, what I receive and make and what my partner makes from my stash.

The Multitask

     I love it when I'm able to multitask, my favorite has always been being able to read while driving. Audio books have saved my sanity countless times. My commute to work is right about an hour so as soon as I jump in the car I hit the play button and I no longer care about idiot drivers or the distance.

     I have a new multitask that I've found. I'm learning to knit, which I love, but I'm easily distracted by the television or dogs or comings and goings in my crazy house. A friend gave me a little set of simple rubber rings - stitch markers. Nice, so now I don't lose my place. I took it one step further and made a set of my own. I loved them so much that I've made half a dozen sets and I'm now carrying them on my Etsy site.

Using Permalinks

    I recently had an accident that is going to keep me stationary for awhile. I decided to make good use of this time to learn more about the blog biz. I found (and shared) a great tutorial on making badges (mines over there on the right >>>)
    Now I'm learning about Permalinks. Have you ever gone to a blog, found a post you'd like to revisit but when you went back it was gone? Replaced by another posting? Permalinks are the way to prevent your blog posts from getting buried.
    Permalinks usually consist of a string of characters which represent the date and time of posting, and the title of the blog article. If you use Blogger to post you can easily create a permalink before you begin your article by simply selecting the Permalink button in the right hand column, select AUTOMATIC PERMALINK, give your article a title and save it. You'll see the permalink tag appear and "Poof!" you're done!  If you want to customize your links with specific titles or a coding system then select CUSTOM PERMALINK, add your title or code and save.
   Now, when someone is looking for that blog you posted two months ago that they saved - there won't be any frustration, they will simply click and go.
