The Sersich Project

So, it turns out that waxed linen thread is harder to find then you would imagine. After some internet searching (and wandering distractedly) - I located some thread! Score!

I gathered all the homeless beads I had in shades of blue, (you need 50 or so) threw in a few cute little silver fish - and began learning how to make the Spiny Knotted Bracelet from the Stephanie Sersich book Designing Jewelry With Glass Beads (see last post). I'm feelin' a little clumsy, like my hands have half the knuckles I'm supposed to have! But like Dorie says, "Just keep swimming".

So far, it's looking like this:
I'm not happy about the back - I have to learn to make nice neat knots (say it 5 times fast!), but I love the look of this style - crammed with color, texture, size -I'm hoping that I'll still love it when I finally manage to get to the end.

  1. Well, I can't see the back from the picture I think it looks simply wonderful! Keep the faith and it will be beautiful.

  2. Stephanie Sersich is one of my all time favorite people. I've taken her class twice, and I've made a number of her bracelets and necklaces. They never look right at ALL when I'm first starting them, but then they (occasionally) turn out ok. I will never be able to do as she does with the clean lines on the back! If you ever get a chance to take her class, DO!

  3. @Lori - you're right, the start of this was awful, but as you go it works itself out. I'd love to take a class with Stephanie! Add that to my list of goals!
